- Today was the beginning of a dream come true. The Ranch Party TV Show has been a dream of mine and Richard Frileys for 10 years. We have had several false starts and now the persistence has paid off. Thanks to Ginger Gagne' who has put the last few peices of puzzle together, the journey has begun. To lead off with such legendary musicians like Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams as well as Jorma Kaukonen and our first taping of the show taking palce at the Fur Peace Ranch Concert Hall is nothing but a blessing from the Lord. Tim Holmes is on hand to help with video support, Ginger is journaling the days events and we're all working to make this show a success. Everyone is working so hard I can't thank them enough. There is more to come as we will be journaling the progress and process of this exciting journey.

Let it shine on me!!
As I write this its early or late depending on how you look at it. But the SUN has been shining all night. I just left SUN Recording studios in Memphis and I had a great time. Nancy Apple is recording a new record and asked me to play and sing some. It was to much fun. My favorite records of all time were recorded in that room even using some of the same microphones. It was very close to a church service. The walls still echo with Johnny Cash, Luther Perkins and Marshall Grant , thats the music that started me on my path, not to mention Elvis and Carl Perkins. Memphis is full of ghosts, drifting in on the breeze from the Mississippi cotton fields, off the Mississippi River, barrelin' down Highway 51 or clickin down the Rock Island Line. God has blessed me, to stand on that sacred ground. Thank you Sam Phillips and Johnny Cash and Nancy Apple.

Be sure to check out some photos here.

In this world turned on its edge filled with caos ,wrecked with havoc and hatred we take stock of our lives and start thinking of the new year. Its good to celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus ,the Christ Child. One day He will bring the peace on earth we seek, until then He gives inner peace that we need to share. 9/27  Jack Kerouac Was Here !

"...at midnight Ashland, Kentucky, and a lonely girl under the marquee of a closed up show." - Jack Kerouac, On the Road

In the late 40's and early 50's writer Jack Kerouac was zig- zagging across the country, taking everything in. It all came out in his thinly-disquised autobiography On the Road published in 1957. On this journey, he paused to describe a scene at a theater in Ashland KY. Kerouac was born in Lowell, Massachusetts in 1922. His first novel The Town and the City was published in 1950, but On the Road sparked and epitomized what became known as "the Beat generation" and made Kerouac one of the most controversial and best-known writers of his time. He died in St. Petersburg, Florida, in 1969, at the age of forty-seven.

To remember this event the Paramount Arts Center, Ashland's sole surviving theater, will hold a celebration of Kerouac on Wed. Oct. 19. At 7pm, a plaque will be placed under the marque with the line from "On the Road". Also, readings from his books and live music will be performed in the Paramounts' Marque Room.

Music will be provided by Rob McNurlin and Ritch Collins, both Jack Kerouac fans and originizers of the event. McNurlin has released 4 cds and tours extensivley, this summer he performed at The Woody Guthrie Folk Festival in Okemah OK, sharing the stage with David Amram a contemporary of Kerouac. The Ritch Collins Three-O plays an eclectic mix of jazz, blues, country, folk and show tunes with an emphisis on Old time string band music. The band features Jeff Carter on flute, clarinet and whistle, Bob Shortridge on upright bass and Ritch Collins on guitar and vocals.Their debut cd "Hillbilly Jazz" will be released on Oct.19 and features the Rob McNurlin penned "Lotta Good Men" a song about Kerouac. John Hurlbut manager of the Fur Peace Ranch will read selections from Kerouacs writings.
